In the United States, nearly 77% of car trips are 10 miles or less, while Rad Power Bikes' e-bikes can travel over 45 miles per charge. Radenbaugh recognized the potential of e-bikes in addressing environmental concerns, public safety, and financial burdens caused by the staggering 250 million cars on American roads. Consequently, he dedicated his career to promoting e-bikes as a practical solution to these issues. Today, e-bikes have become the best-selling electric vehicle in the United States, valued for their energy efficiency, enjoyment, and accessibility.

A fervent advocate for sustainable transportation, Mike Radenbaugh is committed to making e-bikes accessible and enjoyable for people worldwide. His contributions have established him as one of the leading innovators in the e-bike industry. He focuses on advocacy, innovation, and supporting the dedicated Rad Power Bikes Team in spearheading the e-bike revolution.

Radenbaugh's journey into e-bikes began with a simple desire to arrive at school on time without being drenched in sweat. He spent countless hours tinkering in his garage until he successfully built his first e-bike in 2007. His creation, affectionately dubbed "the Frankenbike," was revolutionary and unlike anything seen before. As word spread among his friends, neighbors, and family, demand for his e-bikes grew.

His initial design boasted impressive speeds of up to 35 miles per hour without requiring pedaling. Radenbaugh effortlessly navigated the steep and winding roads of his hometown. Recognizing her son's invention's potential, his mother encouraged him to pursue his dream further and suggested the name Rad Power Bikes for his venture.

Through participation in local craft fairs, word-of-mouth referrals, and newspaper advertisements, Mike Radenbaugh gained increasing attention. He became known as the "e-bike guy" within the local community, as he continuously transformed traditional bicycles into comfortable, rugged, professionally crafted, and high-performing electric options. In 2015, he joined forces with his childhood friend, Ty Collins, to launch a successful crowdfunding campaign that paved the way for Rad Power Bikes' first flagship product.

While Radenbaugh initially embarked on his e-bike journey at South Fork High School, he pursued a major in Industrial Technology at Cal Poly Humboldt. In a testament to his commitment to the technical and Business aspects of his bike-building enterprise, he double majored in Business, culminating in a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design and Operations Management in 2012.

In 2015, Radenbaugh harnessed his knowledge and experience by revamping Rad Power Bikes as a direct-to-consumer business. By eliminating the middleman of third-party dealers and retailers, he aimed to reduce the cost of premium e-bikes by half compared to similar models offered by competitors. Additionally, he recognized the value of building a close relationship with consumers and establishing a direct connection. Mike Radenbaugh assembled a proficient team that fine-tuned his business model as the company expanded. Rad Power Bikes opened company-owned retail stores nationwide and introduced mobile service centers. Collaborations with an extensive network of bike shops and establishing a robust supply chain enabled efficient delivery of e-bikes to consumers with minimal delays and obstacles.

While convenient transportation is a primary motivation behind Radenbaugh's e-bike invention, reducing humanity's carbon footprint holds equal importance in his ethos. Electric bikes incentivize riders to choose sustainable alternatives as they do not consume fossil fuels like traditional vehicles but are highly energy-efficient. E-bikes represent the most efficient form of transportation, achieving approximately 1,600 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe).

Driven by his mission to provide eco-friendly transportation options, Radenbaugh has expanded his company's endeavors to innovate commonly used recreational and work vehicles. He co-founded GolfBoard, a company that engineered an electric four-wheel skateboard for golf courses. This innovative solution significantly reduced pollution, energy consumption, and turf damage compared to traditional golf carts.

Mike Radenbaugh also founded Current Drives, a company that developed the world's first electric-powered stand-up paddleboard conversion kit during the rise of stand-up paddleboarding. The kit offers a silent and emission-free propulsion system, enhancing the experience of fishing or leisure activities conducted using a paddleboard instead of a gas-powered watercraft.

Radenbaugh's accomplishments have garnered recognition from numerous esteemed media outlets such as Forbes, Wired, NPR, and The New York Times. His innovative designs and unwavering commitment to sustainability have earned him several prestigious awards. Furthermore, Radenbaugh and his friend Ty were nominated for the 2019 GeekWire Award in the Young Entrepreneur of the Year category.
